Prof. Dr. Bernhard Kutscher is a seasoned PhD chemist with more than 35 years in the industry. He gained professional experience as General Manager, Managing Director, Vice President and department head in R&D and corporate development of various international Healthcare, Pharma and Chemical companies.

His capabilities encompass hands-on experience in all relevant functions of Drug Development and Manufacturing, a solid understan-
ding of the highly regulated health-
care environment and a track record of driving innovation, portfolio management and value.

Until 2012 he served as Vice President and General Manager of Baxter R&D Europe, in charge of the fully integrated hub and recently

constructed cGMP facility in Belgium and the Oncology facility in Germany. He was member of Baxter's Global Senior Leadership Team and Innovation Council. In addition, he acted as Managing Director Baxter Oncology GmbH with global reach for API synthesis, fill & finish and custom manufacturing of cytostatics.

During 2003 to 2009 he also served as Managing Director of Baxter Germany Holding GmbH. Prior to joining Baxter in 2001, he was Vice President R&D Asta Medica Oncology with responsibility for a fully-fledged Discovery and Development Organisation, including Clinical, RA, DS/PV and Patent Department.

Between 1999 and 2000 he was appointed Strategic Manager "Pharmaceuticals" within Corporate Development of Degussa-Hüls. From 1987–2000 he served as Head of Chemical Research

and Medicinal Chemistry of the Asta Medica group with global responsibility for Chemistry from "grammes" to "tonnes" and research cooperations with e.g. Sugen and Schering.

 

Professor Kutscher is lecturer at the Technical University of Munich and was given an honorary professorship in 1996. He studied chemistry at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University in Frankfurt and received his Ph.D. with a thesis on peptide synthesis and medicinal chemistry.

He served as an advisor to the German Ministry of Research and Technology and is co-author of the book "Pharmaceutical Substances", published by Thieme Verlag, which is also available online. He speaks English, French and Spanish in addition to his native German.
